Dream Updates: Now Officially Unemployed!

Hi everyone! Lola here!

Wow. What a day...

Well, as you might have guessed from yesterday's post and today's title... I failed at University.

To be honest, it's kind of a relief. After months of wondering, I finally know where I stand and can finally start to get organised.

I had to go to University with my dad, this morning, to see if I would pass into the second year or not. We wanted to be sure.
You can imagine how grim the ride back was. I think my dad is more upset than me about the situation. He's convinced I'll end up working in an office or factory for the next 40 years. What do you guys think? Is he right? I know he can be quite pessimistic, but he's just trying to be realistic, really.

Well, it feels really weird calling myself unemployed now, instead of a student on holiday.
I am no longer a student. I am no longer on Summer holiday. I will not be going back to school in September.

I'm starting to look for jobs, now.
I've never had a job. I've never received a paycheck (well, I did a tiny home job translating something, but I wasn't skilled enough because it was mostly technical words. I was paid anyway, though, which was really nice of the guy). I have no idea what to expect when I do get one.
The problem is that I'm pretty scared I won't be up to it, even if it requires no qualifications or experience.
I'm not a very self-confident person, but I'm getting there. I have to force myself to try something. It might even help me feel more confident.

In any case, I'm off for a scary yet interesting adventure, me thinks! That's one small step for Lola. :P
I'll keep you guys posted!

Your turn to share! Where are you currently, dream-wise? Have you started taking small steps? If not, are you planning to do so, soon? Share your story! ^-^

Thanks for reading; keep on dreaming!

  1. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't succeed at Uni, but as you said before in a post I think, you made some mistakes during your year there, and as such it came back to bite you in the butt.

I know how you feel about finding employment, it will be a scary experience since you've never done work before, but it will help you find a base to earn some money, get experience for how it feels in a workplace, and who knows, might even open up some doors to places you'd never thought possible.

For what i'm doing dream wise? Well i'm continuing to study programming in my spare time while also working for my current job since i'm unable to study programming at University due to its high cost. I'm planning on finding a new better paying job so that I can have more money per month to support myself and my future ambitions. As i've said before, its important to take many small steps to achieving a dream job/role, it may take years to do so, but it'll be worth it.
