Your Big Dream Starts Now!

Hi everyone! Lola here!

You guys seem to enjoy the posts in which I offer a bit of advice, so I'll be making these now and then, along with my personal dream updates!
If you have a particular request for dream advice, a question, or would just like my opinion on a certain subject (revolving around dreams and goals, of course!) comment below and I'll see if I can give you a short reply or even make an entire post on it, if I think it needs more depth. ;)

All around us, we see people with regrets. Of all ages. But I'm talking, here, about people in their 30s/40s/50s or even more.
One of the biggest regrets a person can have is to not have followed their dream and often find themselves having to go to some hateful job everyday and not even getting a high pay for it.
People tend to call this a midlife crisis.

This is my biggest fear in life.

As you guys know, I'm one to dream big. In my previous posts, I've talked about old and present dreams of mine, and a lot of them were... well, pretty far-fetched, really.
But one thing I know, is that I don't want to realize, in my 40s or 50s that it's too late and I should have acted sooner to make my dreams come true.
I guess that's one of the reasons I screwed up at Uni (more on that in a future Dream Updates post).

There's also another reason to try and start now to make your big dreams come true.
You might realize, in working, that your dream was only temporary, or not what you'd expected it be in real life. The sooner you realize this, the better you'll get to know yourself and the more time you'll have to accomplish other dreams, until, one day, you find the right one.

So stop reading my blog and get a start on your dreams!!

Don't be like me and see yourself doing stuff in a few years without actually starting to work on it now and end  up writing out blogs to have a good rant and making Youtube videos instead.

Want to become an author? Start writing something, right now!
Or maybe a musician? Get your instrument out and start improvising!
Maybe you want to become a doctor, but it's the Summer holidays? Read books and go interview some nearby doctors! Be ahead of everyone else! ;P

The point is, whatever your dream, there is always something you can do now to start making it come true and knowing more on the subject. The more you get into it, the more it'll feel real. The more it feels real, the better your chances of taking bigger steps very soon!

Oh, but in today's world, there's the internet. There's technology. Phones, tablets, computers,..
About two months ago, I quit social networks. I quit Facebook, Twitter, DeviantART, Instagram,.. and I felt much better for doing it.
Now, I only use Skype and Youtube. And, I have this blog, of course. But they're not as time-consuming.
I've found that I'm much more productive, now, and I find it easier to concentrate on things I'm thinking about or doing.

Today, everyone has a computer. Everyone has the internet. Everyone has Facebook, Twitter, or some other social networking profile. No one reads anymore (that includes bogs, but I'm mainly talking about books, here :D), no one creates, no one feels like working (and I'm not talking about jobs, I mean for themselves)...
Well, okay, I might be exaggerating, here. Maybe that's just France. :P #IAMJOKING
But one thing's for sure: hard work is disappearing; talent is weak or non-existant in a lot of famous artists. You really have to dig to find the good and inspirational people. And since it's the non-talented that stand out, young people think that's what real music is.

Okay, that's for the artistic field, true. But, let me tell you something. Those famous people you see everywhere? The scientists, the artists, the philosophers,.. they are US and we are THEM.
What I mean is that you could very well become one of those people!
Sadly, some people are convinced that scientists are only successful because they're naturally intelligent; that artists are successful because they were born with a talent; that philosophers were born-thinkers!
While this may be true for some, it's not true for all! Of course, there are those natural talents out there. And it can be frustrating having the same dream as someone else, but not having their skill.
But instead of moping around and feeling sorry for yourself, get to work! You're not going to become the next Michael Jackson by wishing you had his talent and crying about it!
I know it's frustrating to have to work to have good skills, when you know that others (although very few!) got their with no effort, but you haven't really got much choice if you want to make it.
You only live once and you'll realize that when you're stuck in an office in your late 30s. :'D

Well, that's it for this post! I realize it's pretty dry and straight-forward, but I figure it's necessary. Plus, I think that I'm also writing this post to myself as much as I am to you. XD

Good luck and work hard. :3

Thanks for reading; keep on dreaming!

  1. I agree on the points you brought up with this post, if people want to achieve their dreams, they have to work hard for it and make it happen sooner rather then relying on chance, because time is not going to wait for them, it carries on with or without you.
Also yes it is noticable how internet and technology is making people not read books anymore, but I do disagree with the point about it making people lazy, i'd say that is only half true, in fact a growing number of people use the internet for their dream jobs, as a source of income and even a career out of it. I think that notion is a result of the times changing really. I hate to say it but books, television and such will start being seen as outdated, compared to what the internet offers today, heck with books now being able to be read on tablets, it might even happen in the next decade or two.
There is saying that what doesn't adapt to the times gets left behind and forgotten, its the same with technology, when somethings outdated and is clearly not as advanced, it becomes an artifact to be shown in museums.

    1. Urgh, that's so sad. T.T I can't imagine a world without books. D: I think technology's great, but I can't stand the fact that it's taking over the world. :/

Okay, I agree with the fact that the internet can lead to specific types of career, but I was mostly talking about the fact that people waste a lot of time on social networks. :)

    2. Yeah, it is a sad thing, but its not all bad, it makes library's and archives alot more important since it can store all of the books made, or at least single copies of it so that when the time comes, its all there for people curious to see.

Well yeah that is true, it is known that people can waste their lives on social networks trying to be like celebrities, attention whoring themselves or just letting the addiction overtake them. That and also people can use it as a way to cover up their lack of real talents by making themselves bigger then they really are, just like alot of celebrities do with "reality" shows, endorsements and campaigns.
Social networks really are a double edge sword, it can be a gateway to success, or a drug addiction that gets the better of you.
But the sad reality is, social media is taking over the roles that newspapers, posters and even televisions used to have, so I wouldn't be surprised if in the next decade or so, it becomes the new stranded for stardom, for better or for worse.
