Can achieving one's dreams/goals change you as a person?

 Hi everyone! Lola here!

Today, I'll be answering a very interesting question asked by ChaoticDan.
If you have any questions you'd like me to answer in a blog post, just post them in the comments. ^^

Dan's question:

"When it comes to achieving your goals, do you fear that it could change you as a person?"

This is more a personal question than one that asks for advice, but I think it's too interesting to ignore. :P

Well, Dan, I think that the answer is that it depends on the dream you want to achieve.
But yes. In general, I think that accomplishing a dream can change who you are.

In my case, I want to either become an actor, a Youtuber and, later on, buy a huge piece of land to leave untouched and let nature take over once more, in which I can have a small house and live in peace for the rest of my life.

I think that the biggest risk is if I do become a successful actor or Youtuber. It's very easy to just become an obnoxious egocentric bastard who thinks they're better than everyone else. I've actually been through that myself, when I did a few of my video projects. I become very caught up in my project and tend to forget about the people helping me, sometimes just telling them what to do. But once my projects are over, I'm back to normal, haha.
That's why I'm hoping that this blog might help me stay sane (or as sane as I can get). Maybe, if I look back on this, I might realize what I'm becoming and what I was before.

For now, the plan I mentioned above is the plan I want to go through... but maybe becoming an actor or Youtuber will change that. Especially becoming an actor, because I don't think that, as a Youtuber, I'd do it forever. With an acting career, you can still keep going, and I might be tempted to, in the end. I might have forgotten all about my future Eco-friendly plans and just keep working on my career.

Nothing always goes quite a planned. ;)

Your turn to share! What's your plan for the future? If it goes well, do you think it could change you as a person? If so, in what way?

Feel free to share this post, I'd really appreciate it. :)

Thanks for reading; keep on dreaming!

  1. Yeah, achieving a dream can sometimes change who you are, but its not always bad, usually it leads to maturity and becoming more weary on how things work in the industry.
For me, I think achieving my dream job would certainly change me, it would make me alot more mature and knowing about how gaming works, and while it may make it seem more cynical, strict and such, its not me being a dick, it's the result of me having experienced firsthand on how it all works.
