Taking Your Dreams Seriously

Hi everyone! Lola here!

I don't know about you guys, but I am boiling hot today! I've armed myself with a bottle of water and a dark, cool room, so I should be good, but it's really getting me under the weather! *leaves*

Remind me not to do jokes, it's bad for the whole Community.

Anyway!
In today's post, I'll continue detailing and making more sense out of this previous post.

I actually mentioned, at one point, making a post on a book I recently got. This is that post. :)
The book is called Breaking Into Acting For Dummies. A lot of people don't take this series of books seriously, simply for the fact that it's stated that the books are "for dummies". This is not actually the case, though. I have a small collection of them, and they are really useful!

If there is one thing this book has taught me, it's to ask yourself this one question: Do you take your dreams seriously? Are you really planning to make your dreams come true some day, or is it just a pleasure to dream of another life as an escape from your current one?

This all comes back to that same previous post, where I also talk about living your life as realistically as possible, so as not to get sidetracked.
It's important to have dreams. But don't dwell on them too much, especially if you don't actually plan on doing anything to make them come true.
If you've just been planning things to do in the future to make your dreams come true and have been your entire life, then my advice is to stop kidding yourself and get on with your life or get up and start right away and try to take a first small step. It's harsh, but it's what I've learned from my book.

Which takes me back to it.
This book has opened my eyes on taking dreams seriously and planning a realistically correct way to make them come true. I got an  inside view of how to take the smallest steps and what it's like to be a part of the acting business.

If you have a particular dream, I recommend you do like me: buy a book on that particular dream of yours that goes into depth of what the experience in that field is like.

Buying that book was a first step for me and my dream. I now have enough knowledge on it to be taken seriously when I get out there.
For now, it's all I can really do. I have University, I need to find a job... then I need to get my diploma, get myself a proper job... and then, finally, use my book to start acting.
But I'm glad I bought it, it's really taught me a lot about what I want to do.

How about you? Are you dedicated to your dreams? Or is it just a way to escape reality a bit? Share your thoughts! ^^

Thanks for reading, and keep on dreaming!

  1. Yeah those books are pretty good, the title is deceiving, but at the same time is meaningful.

    1. It's a pretty funny title, but it can stop people from buying them at times, from fear of looking like idiots. .-.
What's good about them, though, is that they're for people on all kinds of level and experience in the field they're reading up. If you're a complete beginner, you understand it, and if you're advanced, you can look up the later chapters. ^^
