My Personal Life Dreams: Acting

Hi everyone! Lola here!

I am back with another personal story!
But before I go ahead with it, I want to hear your own too! Go ahead and answer a few questions under this post. I'll be featuring some answers in later on! ;)

Today's story: My life-long dream of acting... (present)

It's a fact. I've always loved acting, since I was little, in fact. I love getting up on stage and performing. It's an awesome experience! Plus, you meet some great people and, generally, they're very open and friendly.

The Birth Of My Dream

I don't remember when I first dreamed of acting.
My earliest acting experience must have been in England when I was 8 and I joined a club called Stage Coach. Every Saturday, we'd have 3 hours of lessons:

  • Dance
  • Singing
  • Drama
I knew from the start that my favourite lesson was drama. But, sadly, I didn't stay for long, because of a family tragedy.

On the other hand, I had just joined a Primary school in which I joined choir every year and got to play on stage with my fellow schoolmates. It was awesome!
At the same time, I'd joined an acting agency. But it was a complete rip off. My parents didn't know the business and lost a lot of money on it. I'll pay them back some day, haha.

When I moved to France, I wasn't very comfortable with speaking French. Up till then, I had only spoken in French with my mum. But after a year or two, I got more comfortable. I joined choirs and even spent a week at a theatre, exploring the world of burlesque. I adored it!
My second year in France was by far the best. The school choir had been set up by a young Maths teacher who was also a musician and did concerts on the side. Who knew?
We all spent the year rehearsing for a musical. It was an awesome experience, and one I look back on with a sad little smile.
The story itself was very fairy-tale-ish. There was a war between the French and the English, there was a French princess, there was an English soldier. They fell in love...
I played the princess. ._.
For any one you who know my old Youtube account, you'll see just how ridiculous I looked. :')

I also recently played in Waiting For Godot as Estragon. It was my first proper play and it was tough. I should have put the play up on Youtube by now, but you know me... hehe... I'll have it up by August, I hope. T.T

My Plan So Far

Wow, I wrote a bit more than I'd thought I would for that first part! I'll look back on that when I make my future résumé, haha.

Just like I did yesterday with my nature plan, here's a possible plan I have in future, based on acting alone.

  • Get my diploma. That's a first. If I don't get my diploma, I'm screwed.
  • Use said diploma to get a job. Now this part will be a problem, because acting requires you to have a flexible job... I'll have to think this through better.
  • Let's say I have that flexible job. I've made enough money. I can now get a professional headshot and résumé. I'll also have to print duplicates, which could cost quite a bit, too.
  • Take classes. I need classes, otherwise I'll never make a good impression on...
  • An agent. Having an agent is important to get as many auditions as possible.
  • Ace auditions, get roles.
  • Get bigger roles and live on residuals.
  • YAY! :D
This alternative is so much more difficult than yesterday's. It's, like I've said before, mostly based on luck.
I think that, for this dream, I'll have to just go with the flow and see what happens. You can never really make plans for this kind of stuff.

Have any thoughts on this? Leave a comment. ^^

Thanks for reading; keep on dreaming! <3

  1. Yeah this dream is much more difficult to achieve due to how competitive the acting scene is, but it is rewarding once you make it there.
